The 87-year- old British Novelist Doris Lessing won the Nobel Prize for literature, proving an official wrong, who had once remarked about her inefficiency to do so. Ironically, she found out about her prestigious award from a reporter who was waiting outside her house. She was delighted at being the chosen one, and revealed that having won literally all the prizes in Europe, this addition gave her the ‘royal flush’.

Doris sat talking to the media persons on her front door step, with the phone ringing behind her continuously. She informed how she had taken her son to the hospital and then was in the Heath, and was unaware of the prize, but was glad that now people would buy her books. She initially mistook the television crew for photographing the street for some television soap, and was quite surprised to know that she was the actual center of attraction. So, finally she would be earning good money, she stated casually!

Lessing spoke about her next venture, Alfred and Emily an anti-war book, dedicated solely to her parents. They had gone through the horrifying experiences of the World War One and she had given them ordinary, decent lives without war, through her book. The second half of the book has been picked up from the lives of her parents, as her father was wounded before the 1917 battle of Passchendaele, suffering for the rest of his life.

Doris has a message to convey to the people and politicians, regarding the ill effects of war, mentioning that only those who have gone through this hell can know what it’s like. Her agent, who had read the manuscript, has described the last 200 pages of ‘Alfred and Emily’ as ‘unbearably painful’. This elated her further, for if reading about the dreadful consequences of war could move one person, it might make a difference somewhere in the system. We sincerely wish her good luck in her endeavor to wash away war from our planet!

On being questioned whether she would refuse the Nobel Prize like ’some good people’ had in the past, she said she hadn’t contemplated on the issue and would think about it seriously now.

Did Marc Jacobs, the designer forget human anatomy while giving concrete shape to these atrociously heeled shoes, or even worse, is he out to play some kind of a practical joke on us? Now don’t tell me that fixing the heel at the front is the ‘in-thing’...because I certainly won’t buy that!

Shoe designers have been experimenting with their products like crazy, playing with the heels more often. We’ve had fancy shaped ones as platform, clogs, kitten, wedges, block, and conical stilettos.

However, friends, we had heels at least, and it didn’t matter much if we had to fix regular appointments with the orthopedician, all for the sake of fashion! But, Marc Jacobs shoe defies reason and strangely places the heel just under the ball of the foot.

Not a tiny block, but a good, four-inch heel rests coolly in the most unexpected place. The point that God created to rest our feet on stays hanging in the air, keeping us on our toes.

I need not explain how you would feel once these shoes are a part of your accessory. Imagine what will happen when you forget what’s on your feet, and decide to lean back on your heels, you’ll end up falling backwards ladies!

If you still find the pair funky, then here’s the price for you, $546 for a plain pair and $666 for an elaborate one, decorated with metal swirls and Swarovski crystals. If you ask me, I’d suggest you to don some headgear before stepping out with your feet in them.

The shoes are part of the American designer’s 2008 collection, described by him as ‘the emperor’s new clothes’. Did he talk about ‘overturning conventional fashion’? He has to be kidding! These are the most ridiculous, torturous, and precarious pair of shoes for any woman, no matter how little she needs to walk!

I was never a big fan of the conical heels, but must agree that the silver ‘Carla‘ peep toes by Dolce & Gabbana, stand a class apart! The sandal has been meticulously crafted from smooth grained metallic calfskin, which extends to cover the heel. It is planted with a 3.75″ silver tone conical heel, which flaunts textured contours.

The front of the shoe is bedecked with a brooch, which looks quite stunning on the peep toe. It comes luxuriously complete with a padded metallic leather insole and suede lining.

The jeweled pair can adorn your feet for $585!

Still thinking... well, let me give you my views. The ‘Wonder’ triple strap flats, are somewhat cute looking, would look especially good on small feet. I don’t know why but they bring to me the picture of ‘Red Riding Hood’ (she’d go for red color of course).
The triple flats, as the name suggests, have two straps at the center, and one on the ankle. They are available in three shades, brown as displayed above, blue snake, and black, each one adorned by gold buckles. The comfortable flats come at a decent price of $60.

The Nike Zoom Kobe 3 shoes have left me sort of confused, as far as their looks are concerned. They are quite ordinary in appearance, featuring a net side panel for air ventilation, interesting air technology! Guess they might be comfortable for the wearer, who will not get sweaty feet due to extreme physical activity.

We do not have information regarding the release date of the footwear. Meanwhile, you can decide whether you want to sport around in the pair, maybe you get to like them eventually!

I never imagined that a simple accessory like a boot could come as a rainfall-measuring product! We have the Regina Regis Rain Wellington Boot, which strikes as a pleasant change from the typically ordinary Wellington boot, primarily due to the rain measuring scale printed on the boot’s sides.

There is nothing flashy about the pair as it comes with black marks, which point out the water level. With floods becoming a threat in the present day world, these boots could be spreading a wider message!

Maybe the designer wanted to add some pun to the otherwise unglamorous rain shoes, but the result is a pair of boots that take us with their innovative design.

Though the rainy season has ended here, I still would not mind to stock it for the next year!

The ‘Frances’ are round toed, a cute shape no doubt, but the shimmering purple color and curved 90mm heel, does the trick!

As if the bright colors were not enough, the designer have moved a step ahead to plant a bow on the toe, so that if someone had weak eyesight, the playful bow would make up for it!

The heels too are satin covered, so I suggest you wear them when you need to walk the least.

He introduced them into street wear boutique ‘The Rage‘, under the label Ndeur, where they range from towering pumps to old-school high-tops. You get the privilege of entering your feet measurements and can request a style you so long for, at The Rage’s Etsy site.
I particularly love the ankle strap and the double-knotted ties, which give it a very feminine appearance.

The shoes adorn a pair of sexy 4 1/2- inch platform heels, which promise to add grace to any outfit. Spend $1,390 and watch women turning the color of your shoes, with envy of course!
